Sacramento has rebranded itself over the last couple of years, rejuvenating the city’s landscape through numerous creative installations. This month, we’re pleased to announce that Sacramento United Park(ing) Day returns as fourteen local groups transform Capitol Circle between 9thand 10th streets into whimsical art installations.
If you’re unfamiliar with PARK(ing) Day, here’s the rundown: PARK(ing) Day is a worldwide event where metered parking spots are converted into temporary parklets, or miniature public spaces. On Saturday, September 16, you can view the works of Sacramento designers, architects, students and other accompanying organizations as they create interpretations of this year’s theme, “Creative Capitol.” The pop-up event runs between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m., giving the community the ability to connect, engage and play in an urban environment.
Whether it’s jamming out to a mini music festival, putting together a giant puzzle, or doodling at an art bar, the PARK(ing) Day booths have something for everyone. We invite you to head downtown on 9/16 to see the colorful and imaginative creations in person. Be sure to keep an eye out for our very own installation, where you may recognize some of your favorite #DowntownSac events transformed into an interactive playground!
